The Barn is basic with the following provided:-
First Floor Sleeping In Loft
- Double mattress on a raised wooden frame
- Double mattress on a raised wooden frame
Ground Floor Sleeping
- Double futon sofa bed
- + sofa (as an extra single)
- Pillows (should be stored in box, + some in sleeping bag box on the long wall)
- Shower, lavatory and washbasin
- Kitchen area with ‘fridge and electric oven and hob.
- Pots and pans in cupboards and cutlery in drawer.
- There are various bits and pieces in the cupboard…feel free to look, if you use stuff and finish it please replace or let Hilary know, number below.
- Craft Box! Games!
- Wood burning stove. There is a saw and log splitter but you need to bring your own logs
- Dog bed and 2 bowls
- Candles are on the shelf and in cupboard. Please use candle holders
Checklist to Bring and Take Away
- Bring logs to burn in the woodburner
- Sleeping bags,
- Pillow cases,
- Towels,
- Tea towels,
- Loo Paper, soap, shampoo.
- All food and drink
- IN FACT EVERYTHING YOU WOULD NEED IF YOU WERE CAMPING.
- Can you remove all surplus food – leave Tea, Coffee, sugar, oil etc. unless there is too much – then take it away.
- Please take away all rubbish and recycling
- When leaving, switch everything off, EXCEPT Klargester (very important), and in cold weather, turn off water (in bathroom) (Klargester is the sewage treatment device under the dome in the fenced off area in the compound)
The access road has been newly gravelled, and all vehicles should now be taken down to the Barn.
In the Spring you may find lambs on the track, these are the orphan lambs being reared by the farmers Stuart and Sam. They will be quite friendly and may well approach you, they just think you will have their next meal! they are not trying to attack you!! However, it is important to close any gate that you find shut behind you and prevent any sheep from passing through with you. Thank you
Please bring your own supply of logs, we have provided a list of local retailers on the booking page of the website. If you wish to split logs there is a long axe in the cupboard. Be careful.
There are some useful telephone numbers in the blue folder….mobile signal has improved a lot recently, and data can be received outside!
